The Universidad Justo Sierra is a private non profit institution of higher learning established in 1990. The University encompasses 4 campi located in the northern part of Mexico City and one campus is located in the State of Mexico. The University is part of the Justo Sierra Schools which offer Kinder, Elementary and Secondary level education. The programs offered at the university are registered with the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the University is affiliated to FIMPES (Mexican Federation of Private Institutions of Higher Education).
The University population is of 2,500 full time students. Degrees are offered in Accounting and Finance, Architecture, Business Administration, Communications and Media/ Multimedia, Culinary Arts, Graphic Design, Hospitality and Tourism, Law, Marketing Management, Pedagogy and Psychology. Engineering and Information Technology Degrees are conferred in Information Systems, Computer Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. The University has a Medical School and Professional degrees are offered in Medicine and Dentistry.
The University offers international students an opportunity to study at the beautiful San Mateo Campus. The Campus is one of a kind, located in a natural setting with buildings reminiscent of the architecture in Spain. This small, safe campus facilitates the integration of international students to student life in Mexico. The programs offered at Campus San Mateo are: Communications, Law, Graphic Design, Marketing Management, Pedagogy, Psychology, Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism, Computer Engineering.
For international students who need to improve their Spanish skills prior to entering classes, a Spanish as a foreign language program is offered.
On Campus Sports facilities include indoor swimming pool, fully equipped gym, track and field, soccer, basketball courts. Other services are library, computer labs, and cafeteria.
International students are housed in Villa Tepotzotan, a 6 acre property in the colonial town of Tepotzotlan. Located 30 minutes away from San Mateo Campus, students are transported back and forth daily. The Villa has a large bungalow home with 5 bedrooms, accommodating 10 students. The Villa is enclosed and very safe with extensive gardens. The central part of the town of Tepotzotlan is a five minute walk, where students can shop at the local market or grocery store.
Universidad Justo Sierra, Campus San Mateo is offering a short one or two week Mexican Culinary Arts Program. This unique program is in English and has an academic focus which is divided into classroom time and hands-on kitchen experience. The classroom portion will go over the basics of Mexican cuisine and students will be able to apply the notions learnt in class during the cooking portion of the course. The afternoon is dedicated to local cultural tours and sightseeing. Students are housed at Villa Tepotzotan and transportation, all excursions and meals are provided.
